RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS ALLIANCE CODE OF CONDUCT

The Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), formerly the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC), Code of Conduct establishes standards to ensure that working conditions in the electronics industry or industries in which electronics is a key component and its supply chains are safe, that workers are treated with respect and dignity, and that business operations are environmentally responsible and conducted ethically. Considered as part of the electronics industry for purposes of this Code are all organizations that may design, market, manufacture, or provide goods and services that are used to produce electronic goods. The Code may be voluntarily adopted by any business in the electronics sector and subsequently applied by that business to its supply chain and subcontractors, including providers of contract labor.

Conflict Minerals

Minerals are one of the resources in the Congo that are being exploited to partially fund ongoing conflict between armed militias in the eastern provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo(DRC). The Minerals are abstract as Aluminum (chemical symbol: Al), Cobalt (Co), Copper (Cu), Gold (Au), Palladium (Pd) and Tin (Sn) . However, companies cannot alone bring about peace, increase regional governance, or ensure security in the region. All actors in the regions – the governments, industry, civil society, and the citizens themselves – have a role to play in bringing about lasting stability in the region. EICC and GeSI members use a portion of the world’s tantalum, a small proportion of tin and a lesser proportion of tungsten and gold in their products. Regardless of the amount of conflict minerals being used, EICC and GeSI members are concerned about the issue and are committed to taking action.
